Choppy waves, turbulent and strong, surge through the turmoil of the sea
A whirlwind of different emotions storms on deep within me
The waves crashing, the wind howling, a sky filled with darkness
Babies crying, mothers wailing, a world devoid of happiness
The rain falls long and hard all through the night
Guns shooting, soldiers fighting with all their might
But when the storm is over, the sun still shines
And even when the last tears have dried up, Mumbai your spirit will still shine.

For me, the true spirit of Mumbai does not lie amidst a defeatist resilience or a self-inflicted martyrdom in accepting what has been handed to it and moving on. Rather, the true spirit of Mumbai shines in the ability of the bindaas city to stand up in unison for what it believes it, and demand the respect that is rightfully due of it.

Beautiful words - very fitting. Love the pictures too - esply the 1st, 2nd and 5th. Which beach is this?
Your pictures really reflect the mood here in Mumbai. Love the first two photographs.
2,3, 4, 5 are my favs. Am happy to see you posted again :)
Just posted a new set of pics under "ahbd sans Malls",unprocessed, rush shots(I dont know how to fine tune with a software, unless someone teaches me, also mine doenst allow lens or aperture variations just point and click digital)
and it did RAIN - long and hard here in Ahmedbad even as PM's convoy screamed towrds Gandhinagar in the dead of the night the next day. It is unusual - winter rain isnt common here, so I guess there is some benevolent Hand over India's head, and Nature complied and cleaned it all up- minds, hurt, agony, the rubble and dirt.
@ Bindu:
Thanks. This is Weko Beach in Michigan and the water body is Lake Michigan. Really crowded in summer, but deserted and beautiful in winter. Hardly a sea, I know...but it was the most fitting photo for my thoughts.
@Vamsee: Did not know you were based in Mumbai. Hope you and your loved ones were safe during this ordeal. Mumbai is my home in India too. Glad to hear your picks. :)
@ Trisha:
Thanks for letting me know your picks. Am off to go check out your Ahbd pics. You could probably use Photoshop to help with the photos somewhat..but I'm not too savvy with photoshop either, so I doubt I'd be of much help there.
Beautiful pictures as usual and so matching words/thoughts…. To me like “a drop of tear in the ocean?” I know it's has no identity but then it has its own power to fight with the ocean :)
You have a nice weekend.
So apt words, fitting with pictures.

@Chasmebadoor:
Thanks, and welcome to my blog :)
@ Diana: Thanks for your lovely compliments :)
u captured the calm sea but don't forget that there is a tide in the waiting. mumbai and indian citizens have carried on with their lives as ever, but they haven't forgotten the wounds inflicted on their near and dear ones. I strongly believe that the mumbai terror attacks will be a turning point in the history of india. India needs a 'Rang De Basanti' kind of revolutionary act to wake people from their deep slumber and this is the time.
^Yes, I do agree with you - despite the calm of the sea, there is a tide in the waiting.

The first picture depicts it beautifully...dark clouds of terror and bright rays of hope in the centre.
